How to identify and inspect battery cells

A QR code provides traceability clues, but it cannot by itself prove cell grade, capacity or new condition. Verify the decoded data against the physical cell, batch documents and test results.

Inspect the code and laser marking

Check whether the QR/Data Matrix belongs to the original metal marking area and whether edges, fonts and engraving depth are consistent. Labels, polishing or secondary marking require further review.

Validate code structure and batch

Confirm code length, product type, production date and manufacturer are plausible. Dates and serials from one batch should show an explainable pattern.

Check appearance and dimensions

Compare terminals, safety vent, insulation film, case flatness, weight and dimensions. Record swelling, corrosion, welding or refurbishment traces.

Test electrical consistency

Measure resting voltage, AC internal resistance, capacity and self-discharge, then compare dispersion across the batch. Retain raw inspection records for project procurement.
