Understanding UL 1642 and Model-Specific Battery Files

Battery documentation applies at different levels. UL 1642 addresses lithium cell safety, while a finished battery pack may also require model-specific electrical safety, transport and market documents. UN38.3, MSDS, dangerous-goods classification and shipping reports must match the selected pack and shipment method. Buyers should therefore avoid treating one certificate as coverage for every cell, battery model or destination.
