A Procurement Checklist for C&I Energy Storage Systems
Ten questions EPC contractors and distributors should answer before requesting a cabinet or container ESS quotation.
A useful C&I storage inquiry includes more than a target power and energy value. Buyers should provide the site load curve, electricity tariff, photovoltaic capacity, grid connection limit, backup load requirement, installation altitude, ambient temperature, available footprint, preferred cooling method and local compliance requirements. Project teams also need to define whether the system will perform peak shaving, solar self-consumption, backup operation, demand control or microgrid coordination. With these inputs, battery cabinets, PCS, EMS, PV control and distribution equipment can be selected as one coordinated system instead of separate components.
