Recently, Dalian Institute of Chemical Technology's all-vanadium redox flow battery energy storage technology application demonstration project was put into operation. The system is composed of electrolyte circulation system, battery system module, power control module and remote control system. The system design rated output power is 8kW and 15kW respectively, and the rated capacity is 80kWh.

Recently, a scientific research team led by Li Xianfeng and Zhang Huamin, researchers at the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, adopted a new generation of weldable vanadium flow battery (VFB) technology integrated with 8kW/80kWh and 15kW/80kWh energy storage demonstration systems. , Put into operation in Shaanxi Province. The system is composed of electrolyte circulation system, battery system module, power control module and remote control system. The system design rated output power is 8kW and 15kW respectively, and the rated capacity is 80kWh. In addition, the battery system is also matched with solar photovoltaic installations as a backup power supply for important loads in the project site computer room to ensure the reliability of the load's power supply. After on-site testing, the battery system meets customer requirements and runs stably.

The stack of the energy storage demonstration system put into operation uses the weldable porous ion-conducting membrane, weldable bipolar plate, and integrated weldable stack independently developed by the team. The new generation of technology breaks the traditional stack assembly mode, and improves the reliability and assembly automation of the stack. Compared with the traditional stack, the total cost of the new generation stack is reduced by 40%, which improves the stability and economy of the entire battery system.

The operation of this application demonstration project has laid the foundation for the engineering and industrial development of a new generation of vanadium redox flow battery technology. The system electrolyte of the project was provided by Shaanxi Wuzhou Mining Co., Ltd., and the project was awarded the “Key Technology and Demonstration of Transformational Clean Energy”, a strategic pilot technology project (Class A) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Engineering Laboratory of Electrochemical Energy Storage Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China And other support.
